Official position on political activity

by Sister Usha and Brother Osiris

Divinely Female

Members of Divinely Female are encouraged to work toward fostering love and tolerance in the societies in which they find themselves. This includes supporting political candidates and social causes which they believe best support these goals. However, members are expected to decide for themselves which candidates and which causes they wish to support. The group as a whole will remain neutral on issues of elections for public office and advocating adoption of certain policies by public officials. Members must not identify themselves as members of Divinely Female when partipating in such activities, nor tell anyone that Divinely Female as a group supports any particular candidate or political cause.

Official position on illegality

by Sister Usha and Brother Osiris

Divinely Female

The following is an official statement by DF having the force of a regulation of the organization. Any member violating these guidelines will be subject to disciplinary action.

The governments of this planet have institued a wide variety of laws. Members of this organization may agree with some of these laws while disagreeing with others. Indeed, many of the people that we admire have spent time in jail for supporting causes that we believe to have been just. These include Susan B. Anthony, Mohandas K. Gandhi, Henry David Thoreau, and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., among others.

However, we as a minority religion are subject to potential persecution for our beliefs. We must not give those who wish to persecute us an excuse for doing so. We therefore adopt the following guidelines for our members. We as a group will disavow any activities by any member violating these guidelines.

  1. No illegal activity is permitted at Divinely Female gatherings
  2. No member may identify her/himself as a Divinely Female member while commiting illegal activities nor while advocating that others do so.
  3. No member may tell non-members that Divinely Female condones illegal activities.
  4. Teachers are required to familiarize themselves with the laws in the jurisdictions in which they reside and enforce the above rules among the membership.
  5. If a member (Teacher or otherwise) knows that another member has violated these guidelines, it is the responsibility of that member to inform the Founder. She has the authority to take whatever disciplinary action she deems necessary, including revokation of the person's membership in Divinely Female.

The following subject areas come to mind, although there may be others. Laws on these subjects vary widely from region to region. Thus these activities may be permitted in some DF chapters but not others:

  1. Sexual activity with minors
  2. Sharing with minors of information about sex (Click here for a fuller discussion)
  3. Use of illegal drugs (and we point out that for children and teenagers in the US, alcohol and tobacco are every bit as illegal as cocaine)
